i screwed up today and got timing tape for an 8" balancer..anyways i know the 90 degree points would be off,but the timing part of it(tdc-60,only about an inch from tdc begining on the tape)should be the same right?i just need it to mark where 36 total is.btw i have the size right under 8",i think its 7 something.

tdc-60? FTH? Zero on the tape should be at the timing mark. Dial in 38* total at 3000 rpm with the vacuum disconnected for a SB Chevy. If it pings at WOT then backoff timing a bit until the ping is gone.

NO, it won't even be close. If all you want is 36°... wrap a string around the balancer and measure the diameter, divide that length by 360, then multiply by 36 to find out how far it is (along the arc of the balancer) from TDC to 36° and paint a mark on the balancer.

Measure the circumference and divide by 10 to get 36°. Make the mark clockwise from the TDC mark.

Always got a shortcut to make things look easy now don't ya!!!!! http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

BTW cody, your better off doing this in the first place. The timing tape has a bad habit of evaporating somewhere on the road at the first 6000rpm stab at the throttle.
