Any advice on decent budget-minded headers? Any particular ones to stay away from?

Summit brand or Black Jack - I've had good luck with Black Jack, last set lasted about 5 years. Kinda wonder why I spent the extra on Hookers on my current setup. Good luck.

I have the Summit headers. They slid right in, sit nicely (not too low), don't burn through my wires, and don't leak or anything. I think they were about $90 delivered to my door including hardware and gaskets.

I have Hookers on mine. They were given to me, but they sound so sweet!

Well, I just got an old pair of Cyclone (Mr Gasket) headers that a guy bought 15 years ago and never put on. Hopefully they're worth a crap. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif
At least they were cheap.

The flowtech fit my 81 big block with no problems. I was surprised how easy they went on.

I'm running the Hedman 1 3/4" heat coated headers and I thought the price was reasonable. If you don't get heat coating they are very affordable.

I had to be different and went with Shoenfeld 1 3/4" - 1 7/8" stepped headers for a dirt track application, They were under $200 shipped and I like them better than Super Comps at half the price.

Hopefully you got the same model of old Cyclone headers that I had about 15 years ago. I bought a set of them, and they fit like a glove on my 70. I was able to install them both right from the top without pulling any accessories off the engine. That is about as easy as it can get. To top it off, they were 1 3/4 tube headers. I only drove them about 3 years and pulled them to replace with a nicer looking set. They were still in mint condition so I saved them, and a few years later my Son needed a set for his 69 El Camino. We installed the Cyclones on his El Camino. The Chevelles don't have quite as much engine room as our Camaros, so we had to install one side from under the car. It was still an easy installation. He is still running them on the El Camino today. Hopefully you have the same ones. They are nice headers.
