HI,
Question for the experts out there:
Does anyone know the intake/exhaust valve settings for the 3927186 heads on a 1970 Z28 350/360hp?
My books only show the 300hp on the 350 for 1970. I do see the settings for the 1970 Vette 350/370hp LT1, can I assume that the settings are the same???
Thanks!
Rich

Its the same as the 350/370hp engine IIRC. Didn't the LT1 use the '30 30' off-road Z28 cam?

Not so sure but I think the valve lash is .024 in. and .030 ex. with the 3972178 camshaft.
What are the specs. for the Vette 70 350/370????

Same engine, the extra 10 ponies came from the less restrictive exhaust on the Vette.
Go with the specs from the settings you have on the Vette.

From my 1972 Chiltons:
1970 370HP 350 (shows no 360HP version in Camaro's or Vettes)
lash is 0.030 / 0.030
Chiltons show no other lash for mechanical small blocks until the 71-72 and the 330HP 350 (Z-28 only) with 0.024 / 0.030
With no 350's prior to 1969, I'd use the 30/30,, but if you really want walking / talkling GM performance cam guru,, seek out Jakeshoe. If there was a variation, he knows it.

Settings for the actual Z28 cam was .024 intake and .030 for exhaust. Head numbers don't make any difference. The 70Z cam was just a bit different than the fuelie cam from previous years. You can set yours both at .030 for street cruising and have a bit more low end torque. I'd check several lashes before changing anything to be sure you have that cam though.

If this is the Comp "replacement cam" it isn't the same exact grind so I would call Comp and ask them. Most of their normal cams (Magnum profile, not a tight lash profile) lash at .024" with an acceptable range being .018-.030".
I always lash them a bit tight.

I missed the 'it's the same as'
I 100% agree. If this is a comp cam,, call Comp. If it's a GM cam with the correct part number, then use the GM lash. The "is't the same as" will get you in trouble every time.

Unless you by an NOS camshaft Crane blue printed is the only cam that duplicates original grind. All other s are "close" or "just like" or "similar". That's true for the 30/30 the crossram "140" or the LT-1.
Even if you go buy the cam from GM now it is made by Crane.
I've had a a Crane blueprint series "140" came in my '69 Z since '85 without any issues and it sounds nasty (even if it has no bottom end).
