Well the motor is finally broke in. 500 miles and time to change the oil. I want to change to synthetic but don't know which brand to go to. I have searched a little and most recommend Mobil 1. Is that the consensus? Anything else you would recommend. Smokee

Don't forget that the optimum operating range of components like heads, maniflds, and cams is completely unrelated to the rpm at which connecting rods and things will generate non-standard ventilation of the engine block. (stolen from another site)

A friend of mine used it in his daily driver (Ford Probe) and he liked it very well. I've yet to run full synthetic but am very partial to Valvoline. I have always used their 10-30's and 10-40's with great results.

I have used Mobil 1 for 100,000 in my daily driver and it is in great shape. Other people I know use Syntec, Amsoil, Red Line, and Royal Purple. They are all satisfied.

It really doesn't matter which synthetic you pick (very much at least) just stick with one brand.

You should let your motor break in a little longer nomally around 6-10k miles. If you want to change earlier you have to use a oil break in additive.
Good luck

I have to agree with 73.
I put synthetic in at 500 and at 1500 my leakdown showed 23% in a couple of cylinders. I made some changes and switched to 5 30 and it has been sealing up better ever since. According to the oil tests I have been doing at 3500 it is still breaking in. I think I'll go 5000 and then put in a blend.
