A while ago I saw a prefabed piece that fit on the firewall for those who choose to remove the AC dog house. I cant remember where I found does anyone know of a place where I can get it. Im really tired of fighting the thing and it looks nasty to boot. Thanks in advance.

American Graffiti sells them.
Let me rant a little here. They get the job done, but poorly. No holes drilled, no provision for the fan resister. You A/C fan will not fit. You will need a fan and cage from a non A/C car. And the holes are not drilled for that either. The opening for the fan is too big.
There customer service sucks. I was told basically too bad, it will get there when it gets there, when I called to find out WTF happened to my order.
In short their box will do the job with modifications. Mostly simple modifications. But I could have made the stock heater only box work with a little fab work, and I wouldn't have spent $140 on the box.
Rant over

I just installed a unit from American Graffiti and I have to say it was pretty easy to drill the holes out to get the exact fit for my car. I got mine in a week shipped to Alaska. They also went out of their way to take it to the post office to keep shipping costs down. Their website is http://www.americangraffiti.biz/ . you do have to change the fan but they have those too. The unit really cleaned up my engine compartment and I now have access to my back header bolts.

The box is $130+$18shipping. I can't remember how much the fan was I would have to dig out the invoice. I would say you could find the fan at a junk yard for cheaper than what they sell a used one for though.

They must like you guys in Alaska. It took almost three weeks to get it here to me in California. Kind of long for something they had in stock and promised they would ship that day(Monday)
Remember, you need to change the fan and cage. They only tell you the cage must be changed, but the fan motor is longer too. Start looking for the cage now, they are getting a little difficult to find without the motor.

The guy that took my order grew up a few miles down the road from where I live now. So I think he understood what a biatch it is to get parts up here.
Now when when you say the cage and fan are to large what are you refering to? The only thing I had to swap out was what I think is the fan. The thing that looks like a hampster wheel. My motor fit fine. That's all the parts I had to make fit into the delete box.

It might be a late car early car difference. My fan was about an inch longer and would not work with the proper cage. Actually I ended up breaking the cage trying to make it fit, and was put in a real bind to get one. I had the fenders off and did the swap then because it would be easier. I had to have the fenders back on that weekend, and I paid out the ying yang for a fan cage combo from ac delco. That's probably where my rage against American Graffiti comes from
