well my fusable link blew wen i had a minor brain malfunction on my part and forgot to disconnect the battery wen i was taking off the alt and wires touched and sparks/fire yeah u know how it goes, so im getting a new fusable link tomorrow and i was wondering how do i put it in (before the starter) and what should i check for to make sure evrything else is ok

All you do is splice it in like any other piece of wire, The new fusible link should already have the crimp connectors on either end of it.

The fusible link ( also known as the pain in the A&& ) can also be run up to a location under the hood, with a normal (heavy duty ) fuse attachment. Contact the local aftermarket ( speed ) shop for more info. All the fusible link really is, is a smaller guage of wire between 2 heavy guage's. Overload it and "zap" , you just got a pain in the butt - but the fuse make's thing's really simple !

its 2 wires going into one so i just get a fusable link with 2 into one, then splice the 2 alt wires into the link then the one wire goes onto the starter correct?

You can do it that way or run a each one thru a fusable link to the post itself, the sedond scenario might be easier. When mine blew I ended up pulling all three wires up and running them directly to the battery on my truck and Camaro. Electrical troubleshooting is so much easier now.

thanx for fast responces guys i ended up using 2 fusable links one wire to each then just putting them both to the starter.
