just noticed today that my valve covers are not sealing good due to the rails touching my tunnel ram intake http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/frown.gif.what is the best way to gain clearance between them and to get the valve covers to seal.i've heard of grinding the valve cover rails but these are real baldwin motion valve covers "very rare & expensive" http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif.can i get extra thick gaskets or stack two together ??.

Yes, you can get thicker gaskets, try that first before stacking gaskets or any other mods.

busted out the grinder on my "mr. gasket" valve covers. Oh so rare and expensive they are.

i know it sounds stupid but do you have them on the right way. some valve covers come with a slot already cut into them. like the stock covers. i have a set of moroso reusable valve cover gaskets they are pretty thik and if you have the cover on wrong it still leaks. this coming from experience.

on the valve covers the word "motion" faces the right way on each side so i know they're on correctly.also the older edelbrock scorpion intake never interfered with the covers.i knew something was up when i hd to remove the valve covers so to install the tunnel ram intake.you could see alot more thickness at the ports than the edelbrock scorpion

Chuck, they are pricey but the fel-pro #1628 gasket works great. Its a much thicker gasket made from a steel core with rubber on both sides. A guy from Team C turned me on to them, and they worked great. You just gotta get longer valve cover studs.

oh. well in that case i'd say just grind the covers or get diffrent ones. i wouldn't grind the intake that just would make a whole lot more work. it is easier to hold and test fit a couple of valve covers than a tunnel ram.

muscl car.... I'm pretty sure your not gonna do it any way, but still. Please DO NOT GRIND those valve covers

bryan1970... In Muscl's case grinding the covers aint the best.. He has real motion performance covers. Not some buy them any where $30 chrome junks, or even $200 alum. fab covers.

I just used Permatex and put two sets of the cheap cork gaskets together. Raised the valve cover up enough to clear the intake and no leaks. Aggravating when Eddy made both and they wont clear.

That would be my suggestion, little bit of a pain in the ass, but better than ruining rare valve covers, or you could get thicker valve cover gaskets http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif
