I've had 2 people contact me in the last week needing a core 350 to start new projects. I have not sold any parts in a few years and was wondering what the going price is for a 350, 4 bolt main core engine.I have 5 of these now and will help out my friends but don't wanna gouge them too bad, or take a beating myself.

good rebuildable core... looking at $200 maybe $250.. i've paid everything from $75-350 for complete rebuildable "core" engines but most have been right around that $200 area
good running 350... $350+
it really depends on your location also

I've paid 20 dollars for a bare block that needed machine work. I've seen people who wanted 125-175 for a bare 4 bolt. (Which I think is ridiculous by the way) A good way to guage price is to check out your area's craigslist.org and see what 350's are going for.

I'm right up the road from you...
My machinist charged me $150 core charge for a 4-bolt 010 high nickel block. Block was guaranteed. My block cleaned up well at 0.030, had straight mains, and the decks needed just a hair taken off... That is a fair price around here. Of course I paid for the machine work on top of the core price...
I sold my 4-bolt 400 short block for about the same - and it needed a lot more work than the 010 block.

In central Az, guarenteed to be a usable core block:
anything 4" bore and small journal (pre 68 302 and 327's) is almost untouchable. If you have the need, and find one, the price is a negotiation.
Medium journal: (assumiung no significant core shift)
virgin 350 2bolt blocks go for around $50, high nickle or not
virgin 4bolt 010 block for around $100-$150
Large journal:
Virgin 2bolt '509' or '511' casting 400 block $150-$300 , depending on core shift
a '817' or any 4bolt 400 casting $100-200, again depending on coreshift
That's just blocks that are in high demand.
Complete core engines from emmissions era (mid 70's - late 80's) are a couple of hundred bucks at BEST

To answer the PM I got on this...
I sold my 4-bolt 400 short block for about the same - and it needed a lot more work than the 010 block.
"it needed a lot more work" meant that the block needed to be magnafluxed & I thought it may need to be line-honed. Thus, the lower price for a 400 block. I was trying to be fair to the buyer.
I ended up holding the buyer's money as a deposit until he sent me a message to confirm that the block magnafluxed OK...

$100 to $125 would be fair.
