Does the intake gasket look like it is sticking to far out?? these are a set of vortec heads, with a power + vortec intake. This picture was taken with the gasket snapped into place and the intake bolted down with all 8 bolts. So everything should be in the right place, just thought I should double check with you guys!

I also painted it, here it is so far, i like it! The valve covers are going to be flat black as will the oil pan, timing chain cover, and water pump

Also, another question, do I just tighten down the rocker bolts, or do i have to do it a specific way? does it matter which end of the bolt is up? (one end is rounded, the other end is cupped)

Why don't you take a razor blade & scrape off the excess??

Thats the rubber part of the gasket, couldn't just scrape it off.(The orange part is rubber as well) I didnt put any gasket making material stuff on that part of the intake.

The flat side of rocker nuts goes down.

Yes you have to tighten the rocker nuts a specific way. They are how you adjust the valves on a chevy engine. Do a search on here under "adjusting valves" A couple of the guys on here have gave step by step how to on adjusting the valves on a hyd. cam
