Can you tell what this came from

The number won't tell you exactly what application this starter was used on. The 8430 was a heavy duty starter used in 1970, and probably other years too. The 0D16 is the date code, and if I decode it correctly, it is 1970, April, 16.
The 8430 was used on 1970 Chevelle and Nova with TH400, so that most likely means with big block engines. It was used on Fullsize Chevys with 454, and also on some of the small block engines with automatic trannys. Camaro used it on SS350 with automatic, Z28 with automatic, and SS396 with automatic.
Basically, it was Chevy's heavy duty starter for automatic trannys in 1970, and possibly other years too.
