hey guys, i've got a 1978 firebird formula THAT CAME STOCK with a chevy 350 and saginaw four speed...weirdo combination, no?
anyway, i get flamed hardcore whenever i try to talk to firebird guys about my drivetrain, so i figured i might get a little more love out of you boys.
on to the actual point of the topic: can anybody tell me the stock compression ratio on a 78 350?

Pretty sure Sharpeye nailed it, he has a .....sharp eye.... http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif
You could probably get the correct info on that from the "info" or stats page at the beginning of this site, I would assume they would be the same.
Those Firebird guys are a little rough when you dont have a Poncho engine in your Firebird. Sometimes I dont get those guys! Just tell them your putting in a 4cyl Iron Duke in it (hey, its a Poncho engine right?).. J/K! Hang out here, skip those guys. We have a few regulars here that dont own a Camaro, we dont pick on them too bad. Heck, maybe we can convince you to put a Ford motor in that Bird then go piss off the Mustang guys & the Bird gang!!

ALL Canadian built Pontiac trans ams and firebirds came with chevy engines.
I know a guy in town that has a 69 Firebird Trans Am that came from canada, and guess what? It has a Chevy 302 in it with the cross ram induction and a muncie M22 4spd.
I think it is worth quite a bit of money.

i would think so http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/redface.gif
yeah i don't really understand why they give me crap. they swear to me that the car would be worth more if i pulled that motor and dropped a 455 in than if i left it numbers matching, all original.
it's ok though...me and my old friend mr. motown block will show them what 450+ cubic inches are supposed to perform like in a few years... http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have a 74 Firebird formula that came with a 350 and factory 3 speed on the floor...how rare is that?

Not rare at all, you have a pontiac engine, Formula has a pontiac that came with a chevy 350 from the factory.

My 78 Phoenix came with 305 Chevy, quite common after 1975.
