I am rebuilding my engine and thought I would share the #'s here from my car. It is a Van Nuys built factory CTC Z/28, with an original build sheet and the car was built in March, with the motor assembly date of Feb 04.

The car has 80,000 miles and the motor was never out. The smog pump was missing and maybe the balancer was changed?? Otherwise I believe all of the components are original to the car. I posted photos of everything on webshots, user name: southerncaliforniacars

Also, I posted a question under the engine topic about a set of factory pistons and rings I found that I would like to use if they are correct?

Here's the #'s:
Block: 3970010 casting B 2 0 pad 10L508929 V0204CTC
Heads: both 3927186 L/H A 21 0 R/H A 13 0
Crank: 1182 Pulley 3956668 CG
Cam: 2182
Pistons: 3959456 Rods: GM 485
Balancer: 8" 3942538 GB
Water Pump pulley: 3947824 BV
Fan: 3947772 914087 A 70 Clutch: Eaton CV
Distributor: 1112019 9 M 14
Intake: 3972110
Carb: Holley 3972122 List 4554-1 0 1 2 MeterBlocks:6335/6192
Alternator: 1100837 37A 0 A 6

It had headers when I got it and I was going to put stock NON AIR manifolds on, unless someone has the correct smog stuff and manifolds??

Hope this helps others as this site has for me.

Some questions for you: I have a March built 70 LA Z-28, M-40, with the same carb date as yours, 0 1 2. My 837 Alternator is 9 H 25 and one head is A 13 0. Sadly, the engine shortblock and one head were changed out in the early 70's due to an overheating problem. Strangely, my 2019 distributor is date 0 A 21, later than yours. When was your build date? Where did you find your buildsheet? I lowered the tank and saw an outline and a few shreds of rotted paper, but no buildsheet. My car has 49,000 original miles.

I bought a set of the repro exhaust manifolds from D&R. You can get a complete smog system from Jerry MacNeish for 1695. MacNeish also recomended the manifolds from D&R as opposed to finding an original set. I did find an original set with the smog tubes and check valves, but they are pitted pretty bad and I wanted new looking. I also put a Gardner complete exhaust system on mine. Very nice parts.

Paul - My build date was 03 A, or the first week of March. I found the build sheet on top of the tank, on the left rear side, I took some hi-res pics then carefully removed it but it came off in pieces, but mostly legible.

I also installed a Gardner exhaust and it was very good. I would like to put the smog back on too, how do I get a hold off Jerry MacNeish and D&R?
