A guy offered me the following:
400 std bore block (2 bolt), billet splaid main caps,arp studs,new BRC race crank 400 mains 3.750 stroke, I beam pro 6in rods with arp 7/16 bolts new (I suppose these are SCAT). I called him up and at first he said he wanted 1200.00. Then i said i would think about it and he instantly jumped down to $1000.00 for it all. What do you guys think. I was looking for info on BRC cranks but couldn't find anything. GOOD DEAL OR BAD DEAL? Supposidly he payed $800.00 for that crank... is this true??? What's so good about it? My last question is... Are splayed main caps necessary and how much should i expect to pay to have the machine work done to install them? Thanks

Machine work could be expensive. I think the main webbing needs to be milled for the splayed caps, then the holes need to be located and drilled, then the block needs to be align bored (not just honed).
Of course a standard bore 400 block, 6" rods, and a decent crank for $1000 probably isn't bad.
If you don't plan on nitrous, extremely high power, or reving over 5500 rpm you don't need splayed caps.

if u don't plan on buying it would ya let me know the guys info?? i would like buying it.

to have the splayed caps put on is like 125-150 bucks around here. its well worth it as u won't have to worry about your bottom end. i do it to all my 400 blocks i have done up. i have heard of BRC cranks but i haven't heard anything good or bad about them. i usually see them sell for around 250 used. i have seen new ones sell for like 450-675 range. so its probably your typical forged crank like SCAT and EAGLE.

let me know whats up.
