I'm replacing the rear main seal in my 79Z 350. What is the correct allignment on the ends of the seal? Even with the block or offset the ends into the block and into the cap?

I always off set them, and apply a dab of RTV in the corners on the seal

That would explain as to why my new ones leak :confused:

Fyi it seems that everyone now makes a better (more $$$) rear main seal. I got the felpro 2912 think it was $21. I also got the 1 piece oil pan gasket its a work of art.
