I have some felpro .041 blue gasket that I had on my car for 2 months.
Can I reuse these on a old truck motor that I am throwing together to sell?

I'm getting this motor built up to sell but I don't want it to be a problem for someone.

I never reuse old head gaskets, just my own pet peeve, not worth the risk in my opinion, would not want to have to tear it all back down, and sure would not want to worry the next guy would install it and have problems.Harvey

I've seen this done over the years. If it is not torn just spray it a good coat with aluminum paint and it seems to work. I wouldn't do it with my engines, I get po'd when I have to redo something like that.

HELL NO You can only torque a head gasket 1 time. The gasket will flatten and hold its shape. If you try to reuse it it will allready be shaped to the other block and head. If you want it to work out for the other guy just get new ones they are not that much. Its not worth having to do it 2 times for a cheap part

I wouldn't do it to my engine either, but this is actually for a block I'm scrapping tpgether for a buddy's junk 2wd 3/4 ton to sell before he moves this summer. Trying to help a guy out here without spending another $40 on some head gaskets. I'll be making out either way. I'm getting more garge space by getting this ol motor out the way, and getting a couple parts from my buddy in exchange.

Using a head gasket over again is like using a condom over again would you really want to take the chance. LOL

i did on my 406.. i had installed my vortec heads, then cracked one head while installing the rocker studs.. heads had been torqued down, but motor was never run, so it never had any heat cycles..

replaced the head, reused the gaskets and havent had any issues.. but i only have about 100 miles on them so far, so who knows..

As hill stated, most head gaskets are meant to be torqued once.........after that they aren't within the initial specifications.

Hell No 2xxx over. They are meant to be torqued down once and that is it. I know you are trying to save money but that is not fair to the person who buys it. What if you wre buying a vehicle and found out after it broke down (blown head gasket) that it was put together like that.:(

Why would you risk it for 20 bucks?

Alright, I'll put new ens on.. You boys convinced me. I thought I had read somewhere where you can reuse it. Maybe it came from a bad source around the garage.
