Those of you who have installed, any suggestions or tips? I just got mine and I haven't checked out the wiring too much, but I'm sure it will be fun seeing is how there is two fans and two speeds....Thanks in advance!

You have a few options. How complicated do you want to make it?
Do a search, it might be under LS1 or LT1 fans, or possibly 3rd gen., but one member made a very nice diagram and instruction on how to run the relays and wiring for the fans.

The two speed fans have one common, one high speed, and one low speed wire per fan.

At the very least you will use a relay to switch both on high. This requires a temp signal and a relay.
You will probably want to add the ability to run both on low. This is simple, it takes two temp signals and two relays.
You could then go more complicated and run what I'll call split speeds, where the motors are run in series instead of parallel. If you had single speed fans this is something I'd recommend, but since they are two speed you don't need it.

You could try wiring one with an engine temp sensor and the other to the A/C system, or go redundant and use one set of sensors and relays per fan, or hard wire one fan, but I don't think anyone would want to go through all that hassle.

One other thing to think of is using a progressive controller, like the FK35 from DC Controls, or the new Spal controller. They install in place of relays and provide variable speed based on coolant temp. They are also designed to lower the electrical draw that ocurrs on fan startup, so you won't strain your electrical system as much.

Good write up on the single Taurus fan, food for thought:

I'm getting ready to due this mod also..with electric water pump..Waiting a guy to make my shroud, bend it up... i have a carboard mock up for taurus fan..I'll take a picture of it and post it...the one thing that i have found as far as a controler for the fans...most relay types you get full power when they engage fans...high current load...most of the controler types start at 50 percent then jump 100 percent power...I'm going to use the DC controler starts out at 10 percent power and increases power as temp increase...i think this system would be the best for the electrical / charging system...I'm not an electrian though

I've got the single Taurus fan and wired it up using two painless kits with the 25A relay's and have had no issues what so ever with it turning on and off. Some write ups say you need the 75A relay, and those babies are 30 bucks each (If i rememeber right)...

I have a relay kit for both fans, and ehhhhh, kinda looks like instructions, but very vague. I just have to decide which power wire to use (30amp) and if I want to go off the sending unit on the head. I can't stand clutters of wiring.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.

I can help with wiring... do you have a list of parts that your using? I come up with a diagram using two sending units and two relays that control two fans with two speeds.

I have this....

Instructions for 2 different configurations
5 Prong Relay
Female Relay socket w/ harness
Inline Thermostat switch
14 total feet of wiring
8 connections
1 Fuse Buss or Circuit Breaker (where available)

Its from this....

That would be even easier for one t-stat and one relay for two speeds. I dont have the diagram for your relay but I'm working on a drawing for it and will post shortly.

If you go to the "cooling" forum on www.pro-touring.com you will find MANY articles regarding the Taurus fans and dc controllers.
