I've never seen a 70 stamped Z27. Only Z28, L34, or L78.

BTW, car was originally classic copper with standard black interior.

No rear swaybar either. I have not seen any 70 SS cars with the Z27 coded trim tag. The rivets appear to be replacements due to the way the center of them are not punched completly thru. The fan shroud looks to be of the smaller 307 or 6cyl type as well.

I'd still give him some good money for that car...it's worth it. Just don't market it as a numbers matching restoration. It is a quality car, but the tag is in poor taste. I'd call it a Z28 tribute;)

BTW, looking closely, it appears that the tag is about 1/8 to the left (passenger side) from where a previous one's marks appear to be.

I think he had a trim tag made that matched the one that was on the car but added the Z27. He didn't do his homework did he?

The build date falls in the VIN on his car and tag is coded 67 (Classic Copper) which leads me to believe he used the original as a guide. Why he didn't paint it Copper is a mystery as well.

Wrong seat covers as well.

I have the same fan shroud and top rad support that I took off a 1970 307 car I used to own.

I think the car looks nice and I asked him a few questions about the originality of the car but of course he hasn't answered my emails.

Lots wrong with it.

Perhaps to make it more convincing?
