has anyone used coated bearing b4? if so have u seen any improvement with engine HP or time's at the track? i'm redoing my crank and was thinking of useing clevite coated bearing. if it gives some improvement. if not i'll stick with the H series.

I don't know, but it's my impression that they free up a fractional amount of power, not enough for you to notice. They are more for longevity, since they hold oil, if you breifly lose oil pressure you might not wipe the crank right away.
FWIW, my boss was just at a high-end (VERY high end) engine building shop, and they coat everything in search of that last bit of HP. Between that, the tolerances they work to, the polishing, and everything else, they have 600+ci motors that with pistons, rings, cam and timing set installed can be turned over BY HAND from the crank snout. The torque required is around 2 ft-lbs. Obviously, when the heads go on and you have spring pressure and compression to deal with it's just not going to happen, but when it's just the short block it does.

yea thxs......i'm going with the the other bearings the engine isn't a high horse engine . the other's r cheaper then the coated ones. it's what i use b4 the oil pump took a crap anyway.
