Alright, Here's the post for our cruise/hang out..there are no deffinate details at this moment EXCEPT the date lol...this date is a deffinate for now as this way OnerealZ will be able to cruise with us before he heads back to school the next day. So hopefully it will be a nice weekend! The details i have now are...i'd like to do some kind of cruise if possible and maybe stop to get a cheap lunch at a pub/diner/bar something like that. A BBQ is kinda out b/c it might be cool for that those will happen in May June July and Aug (one in each month i would like to try for). So everyone with ideas post them up...also everyone who is in for that day post it up also and i'll make a list of who will be there...hell worst comes to worse and we can't get a cruise...maybe we'll just meet up somewhere and eat...its all good just gotta get the camaros out and give them some exercise!!!


The temporary cruise will be from Bear Mountain Area to the Newburgh area giving good access for everyone to hop onto Rt 84 to get back home...

Ok, i got some very good news today. I wont need any surgery on my knee, just need a few more weeks of physical therapy on my knee. With that said, i'm suppose to be working 8-4pm on the 31st, so if i can do a shift exchange i'll be able to go, if not, i wont be.

Awesome Mike...what i was thinking was if you got the route...you could either pm it to me and or post it...and ill pront out enough copies to give out to everyone when we meet up...that way one person doesn't have to lead the whole way.

Also..if you can maybe take notes on any open parking lots we pass...and or scenic stopping points that would be able to fit 10 cars in it so we can have little breaks for photo opps.

I drove the z again tonight...got caught in a lite rain :mad: My daily driver is still in the shop...I needed to go drop some cash off to them, and my wife needed her truck. It sucks driving the car in rain, but I had to. Atleast I know the wipers work :rolleyes:

I'm John from Middletown, NY but I work in Fort Montgomery which is the little town just North of the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Eric noticed me on another post and pointed me over to the NY board. I own a 1970 Rally Sport project car. It's a long way from done, so if I participate It'll have to be with my current "cruiser" a 1964 Oldsmobile. It's the only hobby car I have that isn't in pieces LOL.

I share a "shop" with my brother in Highland Falls which is just up the road from Bear Mountain. The Camaro is there (although currently dormant) and my brother's 65 Cutlass convertible (also currently dormant) and our currently active project which is a 1933 Chevy coupe. And our vintage dirt Modified 1937 Chevy is squirrelled away there for the winter too.

I got it in and did my intake swap.. Now just gotta get the tranny buttoned up, although I managed to snap the little handle off the tranny dipstick, so that another add-on to the to-do list. doh!

Hopefully the snow will have stopped tomorrow morning by the time i do a "snow run" of our cruise route to get all the final tweeks done. Thank God for 4 wd.. Snow coming down pretty good here.

i can meet you guys in hopewell any gas station as i have no gauges well there in the back seat at the moment need a new harness but that wont stop me from lettin it out for a cruise keep me posted.

What day im having! I just hurt myself, pretty bad too. As soon as I got home today, I shoveled the walkway so my wife can go to work. No problem there, I go to oen the front door, and I hear a pop in my right arm! My fingers went numb and cold! I cant move it at all. We go to the ER and it ends up that I have torn my bicep! All the nurses were laughing at me....6'5, 280lbs and I rip a muscle opening a door! Im on meds now, its not a bad tear....as if there is such a thing. :mad: I should be ok in a week or so. I got me a sling for now

Eric, I made the dry run today. Excellent cruise. I'll pm you with all the details once i put it to the computer. Its 39 miles long, i was going a lil, hehehe, over the speed limit and it took me 55 minutes. I'm figuring that the course will be roughly 60- 65 minutes, but then add photo op times at a few spots, with that included it will be close to another hour , for a close to a 2 hour total. Then arrive between 1145 - 1200 for lunch at Carmelas Restaurant/Pizzeria in Montgomery. Hopefully the weather will be good and we get some rain between now and then to get all the road salt off so that everyone will come out. Mike

HAHA HELL YEAH!!! I want the snow gone and a cruise with 7-13guys happening!!! I got pumped up when i saw the response from the post about the cruise and how many people are interested in doing stuff this season. I feel like this would be an awesome kick off for the season so im gonna say that it will still happen and everything will work out for it!!!

Its a great response and its only March, by far now where near cruising season in Ny State. We got about 3 or 4 inches of more snow here, and that damn salter truck came thru a few more times.

Rain is good, as long as it isnt freezing rain, then we are worse off, and back in same boat as getting more salt on the roads.

I'm doing the rain dance right now as we speak while i'm studying for chemistry!!!

We will be crusing in T Minus 250 hours and 40 minutes and 54 seconds.

I hope you guys have fun, and I also hope it is nice............I on the other hand am having some car troubles. My brother's IROC-Z has some serious ignition problems.....and the T/A is leaking radiator fluid!!! It is good to drive only a few miles here and there and then I have to top it off. I dont think it will make Bear Mountain, I am afraid the pump shaft seal will fail and the weep hole will be leaking like crazy. I would replace the water pump this weekend but unfoortuantely I have no access to my garage, being there is my stationary '78Z in one, and the other has 2 tons of rock in front of it for the retaining wall being built in front of my house!!! AHAHHGAHAGHAGHAG!!!

Thats funny, they cant predict the weather for the day after, let alone 10 days,lmao. I will give the weather forcast for the 31st before it even comes out, here it goes: partly cloudy, 20% chance of rain, temperature high of 48 and low of 34. :confused:

Diet Mountain Dew ... honestly if you want to help me with the head gasket help is always welcome...i've done them before at work but on SAABs, ford trucks and newer cars...never on an old Chevy V8. The part that worries me the most is adjusting the rockers and such when re assembling. I'll let everyone know when im doing it and it can be a party of who ever wants to help!!!

Gottta shut a valve at 7am, and reopen that same valve when the are done. Ill be sure to make the next cruise. Plus my ride is in no condition to be at a cruise. I still havent painted the hood yet :mad:

I pulled my Z out of the garage today, washed it, wiped down the interior. All ready to go.

Tommorow I'm going to pull the Z out of the garage and put a quart or two of tranny fluid in it. Its been leaking for a while. Heck, I might just wax the damn thing!

The tear is worse they they thought, it tore completely away from the bone. I need to have it re-attached....that means a cast for 6 weeks, and a recoup time of up to 6 months!! This blows!

I also drove the camaro for the first tiem today for about half hour, after dicking with it for 3 ... bought a new min starter, wrong starter it does fit...AWESOME, so now i go to put the new one in, and realizes the battery cable on that end is donw looks like shit and has the rubber pulling away, so i get a new one. Then i hook up the old stater to put back in, and one of the wires breaks, so now i gotta splice and then put it back, 3 hours later its done. But nothing has changed no new starter nothing ... kinda pissed me off.

That sounds like the kind of luck i usually have when i work on some projects, nothing goes right. 5 is good, but hopefully we will pick up a few more. TTT the cruise in the BS section, make sure everyone is reminded.

WE are meeting in the 20 minute parking opposite of the Park Police station at bear mountain. 10 am. Myself and Doug(1WILDZ) will be there early so no one misses us. For those who are familiar with Bear Mountain, we are meeting just opposite of where we would enter for the car show. So take Rt 9w south from the Bear Mountain Circle, then bare right, following the signs for bear mountain state park, go past the Inn, we will be further up on the left side. For anyone who isnt sure how to get to the starting point, pm me and i will give you my cell number to either explain or to help out if anyone gets lost.

What a great day we had, weather was great, the cruise was great and we got to hang out with a great bunch of guys. And the funniest moment, seeing the brick building "smokin".lmao. Just wanted to say thanks to the guys who organized Saturday's meet. I really enjoyed the cruise and getting to meet some of the members of this board.

Although I cruised my Oldsmobile, I was wishing my Camaro were road worthy! Being around you guys and your cars is the kind of motivation I need to get that project jump started again. I can't wait until some of the spring swap meets to try to hunt down a few more parts.

Hopefully I'll be seeing you guys at the shows and cruises this season.

And...gheeesh...I hope those guys can get those smoking problems fixed!

Fellas I cant believe i missed you yesterday- I did leave late due to a few things but shot up there as fast as i could in my 71, and even asked around at the parking lot did anyone see a bunch of cars like this- even the girl in the booth said no.

Of course I had no idea where you would cruise to, so I parked next to the Bear Mountain Iand did the whole hiking thing. Stayed till about 6:00 Got there around 1 or a little later. Saw in the pic you were parked dwon by the Hudson, didnt go down there other than the walking path to the old dock

Car not running well- think my fuel pumps on the blitz... weird sounds from it thought at first it was just crap in the carb needing to be blown out but then i heard the like grinding noises coming from the pump in the rear- car was just running rough i guess fuel delievery was inconsistant- Gonna take it apart and look at it but its an old one from Maine so prolly just gonna order a new one.

Dudes looked like you had fun. Actually, I was trying to listen in the mountains for echos of small and big blocks, you could hear every Harley, but the only thing i saw was a group of Porsches to match the marbles in a coffe can sound.

I can only imagine the echo of the engines when we were driving up rt 218, surprised we didnt make a rock slide,lol. I'll be downloading my pics tonight, i'll send them to whoever wants some pics of the cruise.

Guys, I really wish I could have made it.. But I will definitly be in for the next.. Its a good thing I didnt go though.. Found out I had a bad HEI module.. Woulda sucked being stranded b/c of it.. But got that fixed, dialed in the timing, got the car running and had the wheel alignment done.. Also found out my brake lines are leaking in 2 spots.. So i gotta fix that and bleed them again.. And my tranny is spitting out fluid at the dipstick.. So I gotta fix that.. And she needs an inspection.. They wouldnt do it b/c my reverse lights dont work or the emergency/parking brake..

Hopefully next weekend all the BS will be done.. And I'll be terrorizing the streets of nyc.. lol

It was great for me,although by the time I got home it was missing along with the smoke..did a comprssion check and it aint good boys.Motors coming out this week.I cant waitto go again

By the way now that the cruise is over we wont hear from the kid!what the he!!...Post up or else...

Very cool pic, and btw Brendan, your Z sounded and looked very healthy when taking off down 17k, i was impressed. Laid rubber first , second and third, you would have liked the way it looked from my standpoint. Maybe we can borrow one of those "discovery channel camera crews for our next cruise.lol.

i'm in RI right now so i just got acess to the internet at Panara bread. The cruise was AMAZING it was awesome hanging out with everyone and fun BSin. If i didn't have to go to RI right after i would have stayed longer. The pics look nice, i can't wait to see Mike's pics.

Hey, its someone else's turn, but i'll take that as a compliment. Do we have any requests for certain areas of the Hudson Valley?? Take some requests and then do the cruise route homework, i even did a dry run for mileage and time when i was planning the route.

hey mike, thanks, and i missed 2nd when i took out of the parking lot, im to used to driving my damn cavalier haha, but i need to fix my engine smoking problem, but other than that im deff pumped for the next cruise and seems like we could easily have another 3 cars there just from the people who we knew missed it
