i picked up what is supposed to be a 750DP today at a swap meet. The carb number is 4776 i am thinking it is actually a 650DP. what is it exactly and if it is a 650 will it work on my 355 with pro 1 200 runner heads?

i found that it is a 600DP. is there anyway to convert it to a 700 or 750DP? metering plates?
Another question, what DP carb would you recommend for a
SBC 355
.125 dome pistons
CC solid roller cam .564 lift 274 duration intake
.570 lift 280 duration exhuast
Dart Pro 1 heads 200 cc 64 cc chamber 2.055 1.6 valves
RPM air gap with MSD
150 Nitrous shot.
I will turn about 6600 rpm and launch around 4000 with my manual tranny
This is my daily driver, but during the summer i race it and only drive it a few miles to work a day. Fuel mileage during the summer is not on my priority list (or during the winter with my 600VS either, lol)

650 would be a R4777 AAA carb.

Put a Proform main body on it.

what stops it from being a 750dp the main body or the metering plates?

The main body and the throttle bore is what determines the cfm. I just looked on Holley's site and does that have the straight leg boosters? If so, get rid of it and find something better. Those things are about impossible to get rid of the off idle stumble.

i think it is the straight leg. i might just sell it and find a 750, since i would still have the smaller throttle plates even with the bigger main body.
Here is another thought. i have a 750 vacuum secondary, is there anyway to combine the 2? it might just be easier getting something else though.

They make the Proform body's for vs carbs. http://www.proformparts.com/mistore/productdisplay.php?sku=407972&hdwt=31101&loc=101&dealer=no&company_id=100719

If you're trying to make a 750 DP it won't work. The VS main bodies are not drilled for rear squirter's.
If you want to make a slick 750 DP out of that 600, get a Holley HP main body. They're about $10 more than the Proform and I've heard of issues with 600/650 metering plates on the Proform body. I think MarvD had a buddy try this out.

so basically all i do is switch out the main body and i am ready to go? i have numerous jets and squirters so i can play with that.

If you put the proform body on they give you jets to use, and they're the right ones.

Yep - It's about a 30 minute ordeal, or 1 cold one, however you measure time. Before you go with Proform, pm MarvD about their main bodies on the smaller metering plates. I have a 3310 VS converted with a Proform main body, rear metering block and quick change spring with the lightest one in. This thing works great for me. I had to drill the body for ported vacuum, that took about 5 min with a hand drill.

i actually talked with holley yesterday and they say i should run a 650 DP on my engine. They also said that the 600DP cannot be changed to anything bigger.
i am just going to find a 650 and sell my 600.
