In reality with some time, (and patience) a die grinder with a cutoff disk and a couple of old valves .060" larger in diameter than the ones you plan to use you could fabricate your own notching tools. they may not do the perfect job, but after seeing what the isky tool does in the hands of a monkey, you can't do much worse.

Just visualize what an end mill looks like, and grind similar "teeth" in the valve faces. You could even try and copy what the Isky tool looks like.

Good luck, and practice on an old piston first if you can.

Rust,

I always wanted to braze a couple of carbide cutting tips to the underside of an intake and an exhaust valve and use them to hog out the bowls for when installing over-sized valves..

He can do the same thing except braze them on the heads so they cut the pistons instead of the seats and bowls.

In fact, I think I have at least three or four small carbide lathe tooling inserts still that I was going to use way back then...

Thats the same thing I was thinking just a few minutes ago.
Problem is my torches are empty and my neighbour juust left for daytona...
The other thing is that those cutters use the tip as a cutting medium.
I know that it works for boring out a carb, thats what got my hamster turning
