i know the general rule is 500 miles, but i have a solid roller cam, so do i still need 500 miles for ring seal? I am getting anxious to just floor it, but have bit my lip so far. I do to the 55-35 mph drop when i first got it going to seat rings. Drag racing starts in 3 weeks, so i will have 500 for sure by then, i just am wanting to see what she will do on the road. i cant wait till racing so i can put my cheater slicks on and cruise around with them to school.

With low tension rings you want to go WFO as much as possible to force the rings out against the wall to help them seat. Does that make you feel better???? ;)

Look at it this way. On the dyno you get maybe 20 minutes breakin, check the oil filter, re-adjust lash during cooldown. On the 2nd startup it's allowed to idle till oil temp is up to 160 or so, The GIVE IT HELL.

Cylinder pressure forces the rings down in the ring land, and out against the wall. You surely don't want to overheat them, but some hard throttle breakin isn't a big deal IMO

I tend to be more conservative. I like to burn off 5 gals on the dyno before I start smacking it. If you have a couple hundred miles on it and it was machined and assembled correctly before you lean on it, you're good to go.

I say go ahead and floor it! You'll want to find the problems if any before you get to the track and like rust said...if it's built correct you won't have any.

i have gone through about 30 gallons. have not readjusted rockers or changed filter yet. will be doing that maybe this weekend.

I believe in breaking um pretty hard, just do it, if it breaks it was gonna break sooner or later anyway.

You're more than ready to go, just do your oil change and adjust the rockers and you're ready for the strip. ;)
