How hard would it be to replace my valve seals on my 81 Z28. Car is just starting to burn oil on startup and when i step on it hard. Seams to be getting worse every day. I have never done this before but are willing to try.

On an 80 I beleive that the "seals" are still nothing more than the old "o-ring & shedder" system. If you've never installed these little o-rings inside a SBC retainer before you're almost certain to screw them up your first time.
Best bet: yank 'em, chuck 'em and install a set of aftermarket positive seals that press right over the stock valve guide boss inside the valve spring (no machining of the guide boss required).
Getting the spring off and putting these seals on is pretty easy- you jsut need compressed air you can run into the spark plug hole to pressurize the cylinder and hold the valves up while you yank the springs and such on the top end.
FYI- No better/easier time to install fresh (or upgraded) valve springs than when you are changing the seals!
