Is there anything that needs to be drilled or customized to make the sbc drop right in? My car already has a sbc but I want to make sure the previous owner did everything right because Ive had to fix a few shade tree stuff that was done to the car. Does GM already have sbc mount hole drilled for the v6 cars? Do they use the same mouting location as the sbc? I believe they put in a v8 trans as well. Just want to make sure they did it right.

The holes for the mounts are already there, so that shouldn't be an issue. Depending on the year the transmission should be the same. Later years had TH-200C transmissions which are not very strong, but are the same size as the TH-359.
Make sure the radiator is capable of keeping the engine cool.
The springs may be the wrong rate, but that'll just lower the car a little right now.

yeah the SBC mounts are a bolt in since the holes are already there... the 229 V-6 trans was probebly a th-250 transmision but it also could have been a th-350(they look almost 100% the same but the th-250 has a bolt sticking out of the case nere the trans cooler lines) mine was a th-250 and didnt last 5 min behind a stock 165HP 350.. so if yours still has one.. i'd think it would have broke already...

the 250 can be a good trans if built right the 250 has a smaller pan and less cluches than the 350 still holding up this far and the guy i bult it for is still ripping a good 2sd and 3rd so far holding up good of corse you need to know the tricks to do it so it will last awile

Thanks. Mine has a TH350. I checked when I change the pan last time. I also had some wierd plug hanging near the side of the trans. Probably went to the stock 250 trans. Unfortunately my car doesnt sit lower in the front...its raised up. I think original springs sat too low and the previous owner put in some bbc springs. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/frown.gif
