I'll assume you're using the stock heads (about 9:1 comp w/ flattop pistons from your rebuild kit), stock exhaust manifolds, and torque converter (if automatic). I'd say you're duration at 0.050" should be in the 210 to 215 range for the intake and around 215 to 220 range for the exhaust with about 0.45" lift at the valve on a 112 or 110 LSA and about 4 to 5 degrees of advance ground in. Basically any mild cam will be better than the stocker, but not hurt driveability or mileage.

when i was building my stock 350 everybody told me to get a comp cams 268 duration high energy cam. it works with most stock componets.

For torque and HP where you need it on a daily driver, the Edelbrock Performer Plus can that is matched to the Performer intake is the best bet. It provides near stock idle and drivability, decent fuel economy, and a huge torque boost and HP increase in the idle to 4500 rpm range, right where you need it. Fight the urge to over cam the motor, you will be glad you did.

Try to get a Crane 272/272 Energizer if they will substitute it for you!!
It is about like the good old CC 268HE mentioned earlier AND like it WILL RUN GOOD for you, imho!!!
OR for more low-end grunt Crane's 266/266 Energizer
