SBC (267) I have new FelPro Head Gaskets. They are symmetrical and can be installed in either direction. What side should go up (Facing the heads).

The gasket differs in that it has Metal webbing around the cylinders on one side but the other side does not.

When I took the car apart the metal webbing was against the cylinder head, but, I am not sure if the previous owner really knew what he was doing.

The directions that came with the gaskets do not say what side goes up.

The gasket itself has no markings that say "This side Up".

I have double checked and the gasket lines up perfectly regardless of which way it lies on the block

Thanks
Rick M

I install them so that the side with the more visible metal "skeleton" goes towards the block, but it really doesn't matter.

I've always used the rule of thumb to put the side with any writing facing up.
