(I just got this car that is why Im asking, my first oil change with it) SBC Moroso 7qt pan. The guy ran a remote dual filter setup and located the two filters right behind the drivers headlight. So I have the 7qt pan, one large line running to the oil filers it is up on top of the drivers side fender, the two oil filters in line, then the line running back to the oil filter location (same routing as the line coming in). If I change both filters and drain out all the oil, how much should I put back? I dont trust the dipstick as its a chrome aftermarket job. Thank you!!!

8-9 qts. if your running two 1qt. filters. (aka $45 worth of synthetic http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif ) But be aware some filters will 'drain back' into the pan showing 2 qt over full. (if it siphons the oil out of the filters). You can run a 7qt pan 1/2 to 1 qt low and help windage a little, but watch for psi drops at high rpm.
Best thing to do IF YOU ARE SURE IT IS A 7qt. PAN (and not a 7qt 'system'). Dump 6qt. in the motor and remark the dipstick, then add one more qt. and again mark the dipstick. Your 'safe' range is between the two marks. Then pre-fill the filters before startup. Check again after warmup and see if the filters siphon back into the pan.

I had the same setup on my '70 years ago. It was a 7 qt kickout pan with two remote filters mounted where the A/C box was. Total it held 10 quarts, 7 in the pan, 1 in each filter, and the heavy duty hydraulic hose I had made for it held another quart.
