Since I am going to have a wiring nightmare anyways with the new engine should I go ahead and order a painless wiring kit for the car? Not the LT1 portion just the car its self. If so which painless kit do I get. When I have looked in the past I could find one for our cars (i have a 73 camaro). Would I have to use a universal kit? Thanks in advance.

As for engine wiring and computer work for the LT1 I am going to use this guy on Ebay to do the work.

Then for a body wiring I am not sure what Painless kit is recommended. As far as I know us second genners still do not have our own Painless kit. Do you need new wiring for the car, like the original is shot or...?

If you check out summitracing.com they have premade kits for LT1 retro swaps. I think they were around 600-650 ish.

Its a universal FI LT1 kit. good luck.

I have the painless lt1 kit 60502 in mine. No problems for the past 5 years. Very easy to install and well labeled.

Speartech in Anderson,Ind. does the engine harnesses. Former Delco engineer,so he's not just guessing.

I plan to grind mine out using just the LT1 engine harness in my 71. IT will probably be a nightmare, but in my head (uh-oh) I don't see any major hiccups. The LT1 is pretty much self-sufficient on it's own, pretty much everything needed is under the hood. Other than running a wire to the ignition switch and the ALDL stuff, I think it all is pretty much sustained under the hood since I have the whole works from a donor car.
Wish me luck.
