Pretty popular in the eighties but many found their way onto street cars. One of the biggest problems was that the large "box" made it difficult to fit under stock hoods. Another problem was fitting a decent air filter assembly. Finally, vacuum hook-ups were nearly impossible! My younger brother had one on his car that we experimented with for awhile. If I remember correctly, it was capable of up to 930 cfm. It was a little tricky to tune but once you found a setting that worked for the street, it held up throughout the seasons of the year. We ended up removing it when we constantly checked the plugs and found that they were being fuel washed. I would say this is a good carb for wide open throttle but only is you get one cheap or want to have one for the nostalgia of the 80's. |
