I know that one of the tube companies offers stock bent 1/2" fuel lines, and was wondering if anyone has them? How did you hook them up to the tank or pump?

i'll be running 1/2".. but not hard steel lines... i'm gonna run braided S/S w/teflon inner...

you could always buy the 1/2" tube and get a bender and do it yourself...

I had to look all over, but found a place selling steel 1/2 inch lines ( I wanted to be able to weld them into the new steel sump I am making this weekend ). Aluminum is much easier to obtain and bend, but then you have to be able to weld aluminum... I got a 1/2 inch tubing bender at Harbor Freight for $6.00, and the tubing for $8.00 an 8 foot stick ( plus $15 shipping for 6 sticks )... How much are the pre-bents gonna cost you ?

You'll need to pull the tank, because putting in 1/2 inch all the way to the front without changing the pickup inside the tank from 3/8 or 5/16 would be silly...

Procedure is the same :

1. Pull your tank and remove the float/pickup assembly. Might wanna drain it first.

2. CAREFULLY remove the pickup tube from the mounting plate, and the sending unit from the tube.

3. Bend the new 1/2 hard line to match the old one ( you did remove it carefully so it didn't bend, right ? )

4. Tack weld the old float sender to the new tube in the same place, and the tube to the mounting plate. ( steel line is better here, but a good radiator shop can do aluminum for you on a saturday ). While you're at it, might want to add a good vent to the tank, and a possible 1/2 return line, just in case, for later.

5. Put it all back together.

6. The rest is just pulling the lines and replacing them, as long as the new ones fit as advertised. Or keep them on, and see about trying to use them as returns ( not reccomended, but some have gotten away with it ).

7. Check for leaks.

8. Test drive, fiil the tank to the very top.

9. Check for leaks.

10. Check for leaks.

If you are putting a sump on your tank why would you weld the line directly to it? I put bungs in mine and just screw in whatever fitting I want to use.
