ok so here i was on a nice sunday afternoon and i thought i would go ahead and change the plug, wires, coil and cap. after i did all these things i went to start it and it just backfires through the carb. my dad comes out and tries to help me figure it out. i thought that maybe the coil was bad so swap the old one back on. still nothing just fire starting in my carb. i try and play with the timing a little but just cant get it to start. it been 2 days and the darn thing is pissing me of to no degree. the carb is an eddy #1400 egr 600. im still in shock ofter this. any hlp or info at all would be very helpful. so for the long post. thanks jeremy

When you say left, do you men when you're in the car?
I agree that it's probably the wires that got mixed up.

I agree ,wires off.You need to be more exact than just firing order. They must be in exact same holes as old wires

when i say left i mean as if you where looking at the engine from the front of the car. im pretty sure i got the wires in the right places.

If you look at the distributor from the top, the wires are placed in CLOCKWISE rotation of 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
It sounds to me like you have it all backwards.
If you're looking at the distributor from the front of the car 1 will be on one tower, 8 will be immediately to the left of it, and two will be immediately to the right of it.

A buddy of mine is still learning the order and all, so we came up with a great idea for him..
Use a marker and number each wire tower on the cap, and each wire
1 on cap, 1 on that wire, 2 on cap, 2 on that wire.. You get the idea..
