Well I just got done putting on my exhaust, and now after it was warmed up, it would randomly bacckfire through the carb, 1000-3000rpms. I have a holley carb and edelbrock performer intake. The car hasnt been ran in like a month or so. could it just be from sitting?

I did a search, and it seems like it could be different for each person depending on their components. I know its not a switched spark plug wire.

Just backfires out of the blue at cruise speed without moving the throttle?

My car isnt on the road I warmed it up to change the oil. I was reving it up and sometimes it backfired and sometimes it didn't. It happened at any rpms between 1000-3000.

Is it backfiring when you hit it or after it starts revving?

Check your timing and advance. It might be a little bit advanced.

Hey 79blue I doubt you could fix it. But if my timing hasnt changed since I first ran it why would it cause this to start.

if there is any consistancy it could be a valve problem, your sure it isn't carb?

I think its the carb or maybe even the choke and is there any ways to fix it?
