Has anyone powder coated there original cast iron intake before with the Chevy Orange color that were painted on the 74 Z28? I want to know if anyone else has had any problems doing one.

Thanks,
George

I've done a couple of TPI aluminum manifolds, no issues. I don't know if that helps or not, sorry.

You should be able to powder cast iron no problem. have i done it? no. But I do work at a place were we primarily do powder coating (also do liquid). But then again, I just QC parts.

Get it sandblasted first (sand, not glass bead or soda) then have it powder coated, and you'll have no probs.

Thanks for the replies so far. Is it ok to have cast iron intake cleaned off by a machine shop before getting it powder coated instead of sand blasting it. I had my cleaned a few months ago and it does not have any grease or paint on it. Only the cast iron finish. It looks brand new for a original intake from a 74 Z28. I currently have it wrapped in plastic now.

Thanks,
George
