View Full Version : oil dipstick length 1981z28owner 02-17-2007, 09:47:33 PM i got a lukor style dipstick assembly in my 81. The oil will not read, but i know it is full. Knuckle Dragger 02-17-2007, 11:14:56 PM If my thinking is correct the dipstick should be the same length as a standard pan. Since the deeper pan is to hold more oil you are going to need to fill it to the same level. Now that's all theory on my part, I've never used a deep pan. 1981z28owner 02-17-2007, 11:23:41 PM i was think it that, i put just over 7 quarts inand it will not register. i am wonding if it slides along the diamond scrapper not allowing it to go all the way down. 68400BIRD 02-17-2007, 11:51:31 PM Th pan is not going to change where your dip stick goes down unless you changed that out at the same time. Youe tube that your dip stick goes in will measure the oil from the same spot as before. 1981z28owner 02-18-2007, 12:03:34 AM i am trying to figure out my it wont register. i put enough oil in it. we ended up taking a CB radio antenna and putting it on teh dipstick. when i chagne oil in about 500 miles, i will make a mark where it is all . then measure how much i drain and it should give me a fairly goo diea. |
