I've done lifters a few times in mine before, but I can't remember if this was true or not-- You need to break in a new cam, but if you're just replacing the lifters, the high rpm break in does not need to be done. T or F? Seems F to me. Just got confused on weather it was a 'wives tale' or not. I would think the lifters need to be 'broke' to the cam! Guess it was something someone told me once many years ago. I don't remember what I did before, but I do have the cam out, looks good. I was going to replace it, bought everything BUT the cam, now there's no funds left, so it's going back together. Time to drive it!

new lifters require the same break in procedure.

Besides. It's better to do it, then later find out it wasn't needed, than vise-versa.
