I am always looking for original parts so that someday I can restore my car back to original but have never pursued it as I don't know where to begin in knowing what is right and what isn't.

I am going to talk to a guy that "says" he has a numbers matching motor for a 71ss 350 camaro. Where do I begin?

Ok, I found on the sight where it talks about suffix codes for manual/auto motors. I see 3 different suffix codes listed for my car, cjd, cgk and cgl. Where do I look to see which one is correct if not all of them?

fyi

Not only are there suffix code to contend with, all engines/trans and body are stamped with hidden VIN derivatives from the original car. So no matter if you get the right suffix, you still won't match with the CON VIN.

Also you have to pay attention to dates the parts were cast and not get a engine block that was cast after the car was built.
