Anybody have under the hood pictures from a 79-81 Camaro with no engine? All the frames are factory drilled for a variety of engines, Chevy, Pontiac, Olds. I need to see which holes the Chevy engine mounts use. Your help is greatly appreciated!

They're usually the top/front most set of holes on most cars- the mounts practically overhang the front of the crossmember. At least, they're that way on my Malibu. Somebody with F-body specific info could probably confirm if this is true.

Your picture helps very much, Thanks! If someone has a better picture please don't hesitate to post! I'm still gathering parts for my Vortec 350 engine swap and will be a couple weeks before I have everything ready for instalation.

You chose a great color for your Camaro!

I'm guessing your transplanting in a sbc where a v6 used to be? Try going down to your local GM dealership - tell them you need pics of where the frame mounts go, they should be able to pull it up for ya (that's what I did back in the day when I swapped an Olds 350 into my 86 Cutlass that originally had the 3.8 V6)

I lowered my BBC down into the frame 1-1/2" using these mounts. i had to slide the frame mounts down 3/16 inc i also had to use the Alstar short block mount to get everything lined up. in order to accomplish this.

Guess I will spill the beans, I'm not working on a Camaro but a 1979 Formula Firebird. I'm swapping from a Pontiac 301 to Chevy 350. I've always owned Chevy's and would prefer to own a Z-28 but I couldn't resist when I recently found the 79 Formula project! At least is made by GM and is very similar to a Camaro. Anyway, the seller had already thrown away the original 301 engine and began a Vortec 350 engine swap. He included most everything new or rebuilt for the conversion. When completed will be a fun car with venerable Chevy power!

Attached a couple pictures of my Formula. I've done a little research and beginning in 79 the rear spoiler became an option on the Formula. Also beginning in 79 the Formula came with the silver Trans Am instrument bezel. Previous years were simulated woodgrain. Wish mine had the optional 8" wide snowflake wheels but still looks cool with the 7".

I appreciate all pictures posted! I now have my engine mounts in the correct location for the Chevy 350 and will be installing the engine soon.

Mike
