I use teflon pipe thread dope. Lubes and seals and cost about two bucks for a small can. Use it to seal about any threads.

I have always used good old, Permatex, "Indianhead Shellac Gasket Cement" in the little, brown - "shoe polish, dauber bottle!!

I put a daub on the threads and a schosh under the heads of my headbolts and step torque away!!

I also re-torque them at least three times after heat cycling over about two days..

Works fine for me..
