I have a 72 camaro with a 402. I noticed the engine smokes after it runs for about 5 minutes and the longer it runs, the more it smokes. It is blue smoke, so I'm sure it's oil. Any ideas as to what the cause may be? It doesn't smoke more on decell than accell, it just kinda smokes all the time and the higher the rpm, the more the smoke. I know this isn't much info but it's all I have.

I'd say you probably may have some broken rings OR really bad valve guides off hand knowing no more about it..
Heck, it may be something as simple as a bad PCV valve allowing oil to be sucked through her at speed over time???????????

PS., and the first thing I always did do was to can it and install another just like new plugs and points, oil and filter at tuneup time!!!

Don't know, but sounds like you need to dump that motor and go with a blown big block!
JK, stick with what pdq said.

Would a leak down test help to figure it out?

Yes it would. A leak down test is about as good as it gets without a tear down.
