I know it's only a matter of time, I here the dark side calling my name now. I found a 454 0.030 over fresh block with 4 bolt mains. $450 an OK deal on it? Just the block. The guy has a steel crank for $300 more but I don't think I need it.

You will spend almost that much on machine work alone. GRAB IT!!!!!

Yeah...you'd spend close to $700 for a full prepped block with some extra trimmings....I'd get the crank too if its in good shape and know that you won't have to get another one for a LONG, long time.....unless something BLOWS up.....(but that's a different story).....
