i am running a comp cams solid roller cam. comp says endplay should be .004-.010. I am running the cloyes 2 peice alum timing cover withteh cloyes timing chain made with the bearing on the back. Cloyes say to run the cam button until it hits the cam, they claim the cover will move some.
Should i follow comp cams or cloyes?

i think i heard marv say once that an aluminum cover will expand outward from zero clearance when heat is in the engine,, therefore he set at zero and let it move outward to provide clearance when the engine was at temp.
maybe he'll pop in.

I run the Cloyes cover but I also have the torrington bearing style timing set, it all looks perfect after a season following the Cloyes method.

Keep in mind that once you set the button depth when you tighten the allen screw it's going to pull the button away from the cam as it takes up the "lash" of the button threads.
