I've seen pics of '74's with a dual snorkel similar to the '70 1/2 - '72, only the snorkels are shorter and I've seen them with open element air cleaners like on the '73's. Are both correct? Also, it appears the chrome lid is different on the '74's.

Yes I believe the '74 is a one year only deal. It had the short dual snorkles.

Thanks. By chance are the open element air cleaners also correct? The reason I ask is they appear in some '74 literature. It could be they used a '73 press photo of a Camaro L82 to make their deadline, though.

The 74 z had a dual snorkel with short snorkels as mentioned above the air cleaner is smaller in diameter than the 70-72 style and doesn't have provisions for clearing the float bowls of a holley carb [last used in 72].Also there were two styles one for hei and one for points distributor,the hei being relieved more in the rear to clear the dist. I have one of each,can send you some pics [I'm too dumb to post them]drop me a line at the e-mail in my profile.--Also the lid was chrome.My points air cleaner came off car *100002 [probably the first 74 'z' built] so I'm sure they all came that way
