Ring widths would need to match your pistons. No guessing allowed

do you just bust out the ruler to measure the width of them?

i dont know the brand. i bought the engine and it had been rebuilt very recently, it was rebuilt to stock, other than being .030 over, so thats all i really know.

if i just bring the piston with the current rings with me to Wise speed shop, will they be able to tell what i need? or are they going to look at me like an idiot for bringing it with me?

Most likely 5/64" compression and 3/16" oil rings for most BBC 'builders' pistons, but yes, Any machine shop should be able to tell you in an instant what rings you need.

you can always feeler guage the ring groove to see what thickness you need. bringing the piston will be fine too. hope it helps.
