hey guys. well i was getting all my parts together so i can send the 454 off to the shop to get assembled, and i figured i woudl make sure i took all of the manuals out of the boxes. well i bought some parts from this guy, and talked to him on many occassions. one of the things i bought was what i thought was a brand new cam.........i got it from him and it was in the box, so i didnt think anything of it. so i was in the box tonight and looked at the lifters, they look brand new, but then i opened the lube that comes with it and it was half gone.........so i pulled the cam out of the bag and took a look at it, its supposed to be an edelbrock 2162.........but the end of the cam has three sets of numbers (1828, 296090, and 13-12-98) and none of them brought up anything on summit. so now i am a bit concerned i did NOT get what i paid for. anyone recognize the numbers on my cam? and how can you tell if a cam is used or not?? thanks guys, this blows.

Man, that looks like a Crower camshaft number to me.

If you really want to find out what the cam is, call Crower and ask them to put it in their Cam Doctor for you. You'll have to send them the cam and possibly pay them something for the information but they can tell you exactly what the specs are and if it's a solid or hydraulic cam.

well, i know which cam i want, the edelbrock, so if i can figure out if its that one or not, ill just know if i need to order an actual new one from summit.
