Hey i forgot ..again

I have a 91 firebird and was told to get a counter-clockwise water pump..Are the counter-clock wise the same as reverse rotation.If so why do they them by different names?

i was under the impression that the counter clockwise and reverse rotation were the same thing. they're both for serpentine belt driven systems
