ive got a buddy that has a 81. all the ecu stuff is gone. the new motor will have a 750 dp and a mallory ignition. his engine harness has been hacked to death. my question is can i get a new 1980 engine harness and plug into the firewall and make the normal connections to the motor and call it a day. or is it more involved coming from the bulkead to the engine due to extra wires in the bulkhead of a 1981 car that is computer controlled. thanks

67, If you get the '80 harness you'll be good to go. All of the computer wiring that was used came through the firewall just to the passenger side of the distributor (big hole). None of the wiring from the firewall plug on drivers side had anything to do with the computer.

I have an 81 also, and I did exactly what you are talking about, although I did it with a 79 harness. It's pretty easy to do.
