I am in the process od troubleshooting an engine vibration problem and I was thinking this would be a good time to replace my lifters. The reason I was thinking of replacing them is they are currently Rhoads lifters and the clicking bothers me, just because you have no way of knowing they are set right or if you are starting to have a failure.
Engine has about 300 miles on it so the cam is fairly new.
What lifters would you recommend for the replacement.
It is a pretty agressive hydraulic cam, non roller.
Thats about all the specs I have on the cam, found out last night it doesn't start to pull hard until about 3500 RPM
Thanks,
Nate

I used Crane lifters on my Isky cam and I'm happy with them. Mine were solids, not hydraulic, but they seem to care where they get them and how they're made. Its been a topic of QC issues around this board for 3-4 plus years now. It is something you want to ask and pay attention to.

Most hydraulic lifters are about equal in quality. Some will have a better retainer clip that holds the plunger in. If there are more differences in them than a few machining procedures I would be surprised.

If you have the Rhoads lifters set anywhere near right, I bet that you will find out that after you install hi-po regular lifters on your cam, that it will lose driveability b/c the Rhoads lifters tame it down at low speed!!
Just think about why guys use them to help crutch too big a hy-cam!!
And the first thing I would do is pull the cam and see just what it really is so I would know!!!

generic house brand or sealpower lifters,,,
Most likely the same ones in the pretty boxes,,,,but at a far better price.

Thanks, If I pull the cam, it is not going back in, for that much work I would be getting a larger one. Rhodes tech said they take off about 10 degrees.
I think in the long run a regular lifter would be best.
