hey would the fuel pump shoot oil out the side if damaged or worn

Not sure if I'm 100% clear on what you're experiencing, but yes and no. If there's a crack in the mounting flange on the pump, then yes oil could leak out from around it. If it's just "worn", you'd have to be more specific. It'd just about have to be pysically damaged or the mounting bolts could be loose or maybe even time for a new mounting gasket.

Check the two holes in the front of the block directly in front of the fuel pump. If they do not have bolts in them your engine WILL leak oil. Do not use long bolts as one of these holes has a direct path to the fuel pump pushrod area.
