I know very little about carbs. I have an elderbrock 750cfm performer. I was planning to take my car to the strip. What things can I do insure my carb is properly tuned and I have the quickest times possible for my car? Do I adjust the float levels? Should I advance or retard the timing? Any help is appreciated

Eddy's run better at the track with the air cleaner on. You shouldnt have to tune it any different as long as its in good shape & working fine now. Mine goes 11's & doesnt say Holley on it http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif
Oh, and you have to post your times when you get back!!

The track is the PERFECT place to tune the Eddy carb. Download the manual from edelbrocks site, but be prepared to need the calibration kit. Changing the float level ain't going to do nothin.

I would make sure everything is within specs. Check your valve lash, timing, and plug gaps. After a couple of runs, I would advance the timing a little more to see how the car responds. Log everything you do so that you can compare later and see what works best. Good Luck.

Your profile doesn't match your cardomain site. Which is it a 365 or 377? If you haven't already throw that POS foam air filter in the trash, one back fire and it'll cost you another carb.

I had one once, was doing some carb work when it backfired while I was trying to start it. Caught the foam on fire, then sucked it into the carb. Let's just say that carb never worked the same again.
What kind of air cleaner do you have that doesnt work with an HEI? I have an HEI and it fits OK.

if you have the engine setup right you shouldn't be having backfires through the carb in the first place...

It is a 365 not a 377 and I had to use that air cleaner in order for it to fit under my hood. Even with that air cleaner I had to shave of 1/4 inch off of the bottom of it. I didn't want to cut a hole in my hood so I just did it that way.

When you have the top of the carb that close to the underside of the hood, there are usually (cfm)air restriction issues.
