Hi all.
I have a BBC which has worn out 4-th main bearing. This 4-th bearing was spinning in its seat and the 4-th hole in the block is 0.005" bigger than the others. Is there any possibility to fix the block or have you heard of main bearigs which outside diameter is bigger than original's?
The BBC is extremely rare here and I'd like to save the BBC's life.

Yes the block can be fixed.I think they cut the main caps down a little and then re linehone the block.

Make sure the bearing saddle isn't split down the oil gallery, common with a spun bearing.

We just fix a big block with a similar problem on number 3 main we put all new caps on except for the rear main cap and number 3 main at the parting line still had some referance marks of the bearing spinning but all and all in came out nice.

You may have to change that one cap as it will have had a lot of heat put into it and will not probably fit the register very good.
